About

Ljubljana is Slovene capital city and one of Europe’s greenest and most liveable capitals. Car traffic is restricted in the city centre, you will find only pedestrians and cyclists strolling around the city center. Ljubljana bursts in the summer, cafes and restaurants set up terraces seating along the river, in the air is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

We warmly recommend to book your flights and accommodation in Ljubljana as early as possible! There is another big international conference happening at the same time in Ljubljana from 5 – 8 June 2024 and the beginning of high summer touristic season will be already in full swing. Hotels are already being overbooked, not to risk accommodation facilities expire and accommodation prices increase closer the date of ECSITE 2024 conference, please book your accommodation in Ljubljana as earlier as possible. Some of hotels have very strict cut off dates and soon will not be available anymore. BY ROAD​

Getting to Ljubljana by car could be another option since the city is centrally European located. Important note if you would be travelling by car, in Slovenia is a  “Vignette” tolling system. Vignettes must be purchased online https://evinjeta.dars.si/en or on main gasoline stations when entering to Slovenia.

BY TRAIN​

There are several international rail connections to Ljubljana. Trains are also convenient means of transport within the country as distances are mainly short and travel costs low. The Ljubljana Railway Station is in the city centre close to all major accommodations and few steps from the main ECSITE2024 conference venue GR.

BY BUS

Ljubljana can be reached from most major European cities also by bus. Bus travel is one of the most convenient forms of public transport for short trips to Ljubljana’s surrounding areas and other locations in Slovenia. The Ljubljana Bus Station is located in the city center, next to the Railway Station.
